The Hanoi to Sapa limousine van is the quickest and most comfortable daytime way to travel between Hanoi's Old Quarter and Sapa town. The service runs a 9-seat Dcar limousine: the same vehicle body as a standard 16-seat minivan, but rebuilt inside with only nine reclining leather seats, so every passenger gets far more legroom and personal space than on an ordinary shared van.

Why travel to Sapa by limousine van?

The route covers roughly 315 km and takes about 5 hours 30 minutes, running almost the whole way on the Noi Bai – Lao Cai expressway before the final mountain climb from Lao Cai up to Sapa. Because it is a day service, you arrive rested and with your itinerary intact instead of losing a night's sleep on an overnight bus or train.

  • Door to door — hotel pickup in Hanoi and drop-off at your hotel in Sapa town
  • Only 9 seats on board, so the cabin stays quiet and uncrowded
  • Two departures every day in each direction, morning and afternoon
  • Reclining business-class seating rather than fixed bus seats

On-board facilities

  • Reclining business-class leather seats
  • Air conditioning throughout the cabin
  • Complimentary mineral water and cold towels
  • USB charging ports
  • Surround sound system and LED TV

Normal seats and VIP seats explained

The cabin is divided into two seat classes, and you choose which one you want when you book:

  • Normal seats — the two seats beside the driver and the three seats along the back row.
  • VIP seats — the four seats in the middle of the cabin. These have the best window view and the most room, and are the most comfortable position on the vehicle for the mountain section of the drive.

Pickup and drop-off points

In Hanoi the van collects you from your hotel in the Old Quarter and the surrounding central districts; the driver will confirm a pickup window the evening before departure. In Sapa you are dropped at your hotel in Sapa town. If you are flying into Noi Bai and want to go straight to the mountains without stopping in the city, use our Hanoi Airport to Sapa private car instead.

Good to know before you book

  • Sapa sits at about 1,500 m and is noticeably cooler than Hanoi — bring a warm layer even in summer.
  • The last 38 km from Lao Cai up to Sapa is winding mountain road. If you are prone to motion sickness, choose a VIP seat in the middle of the cabin and take something for it before you set off.
  • Seats sell out quickly at weekends and over Vietnamese public holidays, so book a few days ahead in peak season.
  • There is one comfort stop at a rest area roughly halfway along the expressway.
